Mrs. Wilma Charlene Phillips, age 79 of Rockwood, passed away Sunday June 10, 2012 with her family by her side. She was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. Wilma and her husband John C. Phillips owned and operated Phillips Salvage in Rockwood for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband: John C. Phillips. One son: Gary Phillips. One daughter: Carolynn Phillips. One brother: Thurman "T.L." Hickman. And one sister: Sue Becktell.
She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law: JoAnn and Clarence Sampson of Harriman, Vicky and Stanley Reed of Rockwood and Melissa Griffis of Harriman. One son and daughter-in-law: Anthony and Tina Phillips of Rockwood. One brother: Sammie Hickman of Rockwood. Five sisters: Willie Melton of Sunrise, FL, Janie Cline of Phillipsburg, OH, Joyce Crespo of Reno, NV, Jewel Chapman of Huntington Beach, CA and Norma Chapman of Pamona, CA. Her grandchildren: Larry and Angie Williams, Brad and Tonya Williams all of Harriman, Kristy Rhoads of Rockwood, Mindy and Brad Davis of Harriman, Justin Butler of Knoxville, Jessie Phillips of Roam Mt., and Brady and Kaylee Griffis of Harriman. Great grandchildren: Dustin and Chelsey McNew, Kristen McNew, Samuel and Jacob Hansen, Isaac and Caleb Davis and Eli Williams all of Harriman. And one great-great grandson: Cooper McNew also of Harriman.
The family will receive friends Wednesday June 13, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Davis Funeral Home, Harriman. Funeral services will follow at 8:00 PM with Rev. Patricia Mendez officiating.
