Rev. William H. "Bill" Young, age 70 of Harriman, went home to be with the Lord Saturday August 31, 2024, at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville. Bro. Bill was baptized at Walnut Hill Baptist Church in Harriman at a young age. He grew up in Harriman and graduated from Harriman High School in 1972. He was a 1980 graduate of The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Bro. Bill served as pastor of Bethel Baptist Church, Harriman, Piney Baptist Church, Oakdale, and First Baptist Church, Oakdale. He was Deacon Emeritus at First Baptist Church, Kingston. He worked for many years at the Harriman Utility Board, retiring as General Manager. Bill also worked as a consultant with Municipal Technical Advisory Service (MTAS) at the University of Tennessee. He was an avid University of Tennessee sports fan. He loved golf and watching his grandsons play sports. He enjoyed being the "Voice of the Eagles" for Oakdale sports and coaching little league baseball.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Herbert and Peggy Young.
And his sister: Rhonda Malenovsky.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years: Dr. Susan Honey Young.
His son and daughter-in-law: Jason and Michelle Young of Murfreesboro.
His daughter and son-in-law: Heather and Bartek Trzos of Knoxville.
Three grandchildren: Jay, Andrew, and Carla Young.
Along with many friends and loved ones.
The family will receive friends Thursday September 5, 2024, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Kingston. Funeral services will follow at 8:00 PM with Dr. Dale Darley officiating. Graveside services will be Friday morning at 11:00 AM in Roane Memorial Gardens.
