William Roscoe Inman

July 24, 1947 — September 22, 2013

Mr. William Roscoe "Bill" Inman, Jr., age 66 of Harriman, went to be with his heavenly Father on Sunday September 22, 2013. He was born on July 24, 1947 in Harriman, TN. He graduated from Harriman High School in 1966 where he played football for the Harriman Blue Devils. After graduation he joined the Army and served our country until 1970 including a tour in Vietnam. Bill worked at the Y-12 and K-25 plants for Union Carbide from 1970 until he became disabled in 1984. Bill was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved to cook and made many loaves of sourdough bread for anyone sick or injured in the community. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Kingston where he and Elaine taught the eight-grade girls Sunday School class for nine years. He went on many mission trips with the church where he took charge of the kitchen as his disability prevented him from working directly on the construction projects. He loved his church and being able to do for others brought him great joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents: William Roscoe, Sr. and Ethel Shillings Inman. Three brothers: Sonny, J.C. and Artel Inman. Four sisters: Janie Burnum, Jean Mitchell, Brenda Kennedy, Faye Inman and many aunts and uncles..
He is survived by his wife of 41 years: Elaine Parrish Inman. One son and daughter-in-law: Eric and Amber Inman of Knoxville. Three "adopted" daughters: Robin Burton, Wendy Johnson and Joy Ramsey. And a very special granddaughter: Katherine Faith Burton.
The family will receive friends Tuesday September 24, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Davis Funeral Home, Harriman. The funeral service will be Wednesday at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Davis Funeral Home with Rev. Sonny Works and Rev. Roger Parrish officiating. Interment will follow in Roane Memorial Gardens.
