Mr. William Charles "Bill" Freer, age 65, passed away at home on December 31, 2014 with his beloved family by his side after a long battle with COPD. He is the loving husband of Debra Freer, father of two children, and grandfather of three grandchildren. He was the eldest son of William E. and Antoinette Freer. Bill grew up in Elizabeth, New Jersey where he attended Catholic School. He later joined the Army, serving two tours in Vietnam. He was a lifelong resident of Brick, New Jersey. Though Bill worked most of his life as a mechanic, he was a jack of all trades and could do it all. He retired from being a woodworker at the Department of the Navy in Lakehurst in 2010. In 2011 he relocated with his family to Harriman, Tennessee. He was a hardworking husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, and traveling.
He is preceded in death by one brother: Patrick Freer of Kingston, TN And one sister: Patricia Gardiner of Manahawkin, NJ He is survived by his loving wife: Debra Freer One son: William Freer of Bayville, NJ One daughter and son in law: Christine and William Kebeck of Harriman, TN One sister and brother in law: Mary and Paul Martelloni One godchild: Krystal Martelloni Three grandchildren: Holly, Brianna, and Hayden And several nieces and nephews. William had a strong desire to donate his body for medical research in hopes that a new treatment or cure could be found to save another life from the donation of his. A memorial service to honor his life will be held at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington D.C. at a later date.
