Mr. Verlin "Red" Parris, age 70 of Harriman, went home to be with the Lord Monday January 3, 2011 at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville. For many years Red worked as a security guard. He was a member of the Harriman Baptist Tabernacle. He is survived by his wife of 49 years: Barbara Lee Parris. Three daughters and one son-in-law: Gayla Hamilton of Chattanooga, Deborah Parris of Harriman and Heather and Benjamin Cook of Rockwood. One son: Cody Parris of Harriman. Two brothers and sisters-in-law: Norman and Hallie Parris of Rockwood and Ronnie and Rita Parris of Texas. One sister and brother-in-law: Linda and Joe Smith of Rockwood. Two grandchildren: Ryan Blansett of Chattanooga, Eliza Cook of Rockwood and a host of other family. friends and loved ones. The family will receive friends Thursday January 6, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Harriman Baptist Tabernacle. Funeral services will follow at 8:00 PM with Rev. James Jones, Jr. and Rev. Jeff Parrott officiating. Graveside services will be Friday January 7, 2010 at 12:00 noon in the Glen Alice Cemetery in Rockwood. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the: Fellowship Tract League at Harriman Baptist Tabernacle.
