Thomas Monroe Barnes of Harriman, born June 23rd, 1942 was honorably discharged from this life on August 9th, 2013. During his life, he served as a Corporal in the United States Army, 4th Armored Division. He was honorably discharged December 17, 1963. Born into the Lord's army March 7th, 1982, he was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Spring City.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents Jessee Lincoln Monroe Barnes and Willie Viola Barnes, brother William Barnes and son Ronald Thomas Barnes.
Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Margaret Barnes, his children Sandy Barnes, Greg (Jennifer) Purkey, Pam Jones, Tommy (Stacy) Barnes and Shawn (Jennifer) Barnes. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. His siblings are: Dave (Marian) Barnes, Ken (Glenda) Barnes, Mary (Allen) Ellis and Willie Mae Jefferson. He is also loved by an abundance of nieces, nephews and special friends.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home in Harriman, Monday August 12th, 2013. The funeral service will be held at Friendship Baptist Church on Toe String Rd in Spring City on Tuesday, August 13th at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mark Ward and Bro. Donnie Harvey officiating. Graveside services to follow at Roane Memorial Gardens.
