Teddie A. Smith

Mr. Teddie A. Smith, age 85 of the Potters Chapel community in Lancing passed away Thursday June 25, 2015 at his home. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean Conflict in 1951 and 1952. He had many stories over the years and he loved his military brothers and his country. Mr. Bill Smith of the Pine Orchard community was a special military friend. Teddie attended Potters Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents: Charlie and Addie Smith. And one sister: Mary Melton. He is survived by his wife of 61 years: Dorothy Potter Smith. His son: Michael and Lisa of Knoxville. His daughter: Sheila and Jerry Johnson of Oliver Springs. Grandchildren: John and Jocelyn, Matt and Tara, Matt and Ashlee Korte, David and Blaklee Collett. Great grandchildren: Keigan, Dalton, Gotham, Rhagan and Rheid. One sister: Ida Schramn. A special uncle: Charlie and Shirley Jordan. And his brothers and sisters-in-law: Jerome and Gleneva Smith and Lowell and Brenda Potter. The family would like to especially thank Hospice, Dr. Doug Smith and staff along with special friends Russell and Judy Jones, Jeff and Michelle Dyer, Tom and Rita Hawn, Johnny and Debbie Campbell and Larry Walker who assisted the family on many occasions during Teddie's illness. The family will receive friends Sunday June 28, 2015 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at Davis Funeral Home, Wartburg. A Celebration of Life will follow at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Davis Funeral Home with Pastor Russell Jones and Bro. Jeff Dyer officiating. Interment will follow in Potters Chapel Cemetery with military honors provided by the Brannon - Kreis Post 149 Honor Guard.
