Mrs. Shirley Voyles Smith, age 75 of Harriman, went home to be with the Lord Monday January 21, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family. She has been a faithful member of Big Emory Baptist Church since she joined the church in 1950. Shirley worked at Burlington Mills in Harriman for more than 19 years. She later went to work at Acme Drug in Harriman where she remained until it closed. Shirley then began working at Chase Drugs where her smile and good humor touched the lives of everyone she met.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Paul and Edith Harvey. One brother: Claude Harold Harvey. One sister: Betty Jean Harvey. One nephew: David Harvey. And a sister-in-law: Helen Harvey.
She is survived by her husband: Nick Smith. Three sons: Dallas Greg Voyles, Terry Voyles and Andy Voyles. One daughter and son-in-law: Cynthia and Darrell Cook. Nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Two brothers: Dean and Roy Harvey. One sister: Lillie Hall. A special friend: Larry Hill. And a host of nieces, nephews and other family, friends and loved ones.
The family will receive friends Thursday January 24, 2013 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Big Emory Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 8:00 PM with Rev. David Harmon officiating. Graveside services will be Friday afternoon at 1:00 PM in the Little Emory Cemetery.
