Mr. Robert H. "Hobby" Smith, Sr., age 69 of Harriman, succumbed to cancer Saturday September 15, 2012 at the home of his daughter, Melinda Hendrickson, surrounded by his family as he wished. Hobby was born March 28, 1943 to the late Richard and Mary Smith.
Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his loving wife: Francis Smith. One daughter: Lou Anne Cofer. A step-son: Danny Bryant. And two brothers: Bill and Boyd Smith.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Bobby and Renea Smith and David and Tracy Smith all of Wartburg. Three daughters and two sons-in-law: Robin Walls of Lexington, KY, Melinda and Walter Hendrickson of Harriman and Melissa and Harold Tate of Kingston. One step-daughter: Deb Bryant of Rockwood. A son-in-law: Petey Cofer. One brother and sister-in-law: Ronnie and Bertha Smith of Wartburg. Three sisters and brothers-in-law: Libby and Sam Randolph, Cathy and Grant Randolph and Shelia and James Steelman all of Harriman. A sister-in-law: Brenda Smith of Rockwood. Twenty-four grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family. Hobby was a loving father, husband, grandfather, brother and friend to all.
The family will receive friends Tuesday September 18, 2012 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Davis Funeral Home, Harriman. Funeral service will follow at 8:00 PM with Rev. Ralph Nance officiating. Graveside services will be Wednesday morning at 11:00 AM in the Crab Orchard Cemetery in Oakdale.
