Patsy Joan Lay

Mrs. Patsy Hamby Lay, age 76 of Harriman went to be with the Lord on Tuesday March 6, 2012 after a lengthy battle with myasthenia gravis. Patsy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of Harriman United Methodist Church. She cherished her family, friends and church - friends. She was preceded in death by her father: Chester Lee Hamby. Her grandparents: Jesse Sherman and Delta Mae Hamby. Her aunt: Archie Pauline Driskill. Her uncle: Archie B. Hamby. A grandson: Kenneth Clayton Burgess. Her step-father: Dave E. Bowers. Her step-mother: Sara Belle Hamby. And a dear friend: Betty C. Johnson. She is survived by her husband: Delmas L. Lay. Her mother: Frankie Driskill Bowers. Three sons: Brian Clay Burgess, David Chester Burgess and his wife Cathy and Sherman Frank Burgess. One daughter: Patricia Lynn Perella and her husband David. Two brothers and sisters-in-law: Thomas Rhea and Patsy Hamby and Robert Sherman and Jeannie Hamby. A sister-in-law: Evelyn Bolton and her husband Don. Six grandchildren: Amber Joy Burgess, Lauren Perella Wilkerson and her husband Allen, Riley C. Burgess, Colby R. Burgess, Mariah Scribner and Sherman Frank Burgess, Jr. And one great grandson: Parker Wilkerson. The family will receive friends Saturday March 10, 2012 at Davis Funeral Home, Harriman from 12:00 to 2:00 PM. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. Steve Parker and Rev. Wayne Nelson officiating. Interment will follow in Roane Memorial Gardens.
