Mr. Noah E. Howard, age 92 of Harriman, passed away Sunday July 5, 2015 at his home. He was a faithful member of South Harriman Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Noah served in the United States Navy from 1941 to 1945 and was a veteran of World War II. While in the Navy, Noah served aboard the USS Arkansas, the USS Alcor and the Troop Ship US Thurston. He served in every theater of WWII and was part of the first and last invasion forces of WWII as well six other invasion forces in between. Noah also worked with Congressman John Duncan, Sr. to help pass the legislation for the Obed, Clear Creek and Daddy's Creek Wild and Scenic River Preserve. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years: Melda James Howard. His parents, four brothers and two sisters. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law: Nathan and Wendy Howard. One daughter and son-in-law: Nancy and Chuck Pickering all of Harriman. Four grandchildren: Brent, Sarah, Brandon and Christopher. Five great grandchildren and a host of other family, friends, and loved ones. The family will receive friends on Wednesday July 8, 2015 at South Harriman Baptist Church from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 PM with Pastor Matt Edwards and Bro. Sam Leslie officiating. Graveside services will be Thursday morning at 11:00 AM in Willard Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the South Harriman Baptist Church Parking Lot Fund.
