Mr. Milton Lamont Martin, age 56 of Kingston, passed away Saturday February 2, 2013 at Methodist Medical Center. Milton was born November 12, 1956 in Rockwood to the late Claude and Annie Mae Martin. Milton accepted Christ at an early age. He was a member of Cowan Chapel United Methodist Church in Kingston. He loved the Lord, his family, his friends and supporting his sons in all of their activities. He truly loved his church where he enjoyed playing the conga bongos. Milton was an active member of the United Methodist Men and of the church choir. He loved life and enjoyed making others smile. His spirit lifting phrase and advice to others was always to "Stand! Stand! Stand!" one of Milton's favorite Scripture is "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not parish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Sandra Martin and brother Ricky Martin.
He is survived by his wife: Sherrie Martin. Two sons: Wisdom and Jerelijah Martin. One brother and sister-in-law: Deacon Eugene and Denise Martin of Raleigh, NC. Two sisters: Vickie Martin and Valerie Givens both of Kingston. His father-in-law: William Love of Harriman. Brothers-in-law: James Burum and his wife Rholonda of Knoxville, Greg Love and his wife Keisha of Harriman. A sister-in-law: Dychelle Love also of Harriman and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends Wednesday February 6, 2013 at Davis Funeral Home, Harriman from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral service will be Thursday February 7, 2013 at 1:00 PM with Rev. James Guthrie officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 12:00 to1:00 PM at the church. Interment will follow in the Braxton Chapel Cemetery in Kingston.
