Mrs. Janie Lannom Scandlyn, age 103 of Harriman, passed away Monday November 2, 2015 at Harriman Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born January 6, 1912 in Donelson, TN. In 1942 she married Gene Scandlyn and moved to Harriman. They were married for 60 years until Gene's death in 2002. Janie was active in her community and Trenton Street Baptist Church. Along with her husband Gene, she was preceded in death by one son: Bob Scandlyn. Her parents: George and Kate Lannom. And two brothers: George and Paul Lannom. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Betty S. and Raymond Milton of Birmingham, AL and Virginia S. and Paul Schubert of Harriman. She was a loving grandmother to seven grandchildren: Lisa Glass (Joseph), Jennifer Boozer (Michael), Tiffanie Garrett (Steven), Melissa Smith (Greg), Susan Calvert (Ashley), Tom Schubert (Cathy) and Sarah Schubert. And nine great grandchildren: Sydney, Taylor, Jake and Alex Boozer, Josh, Jordan and Jacie Garrett, and Eli and Kathleen Smith. Family and friends will meet Thursday November 5, 2015 at 11:00 AM in Lawnville Cemetery in Kingston for graveside services with Rev. Michael M. Miller officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1658 Roane State Hwy., Harriman, TN 37748.
