Marjorie Burdette

Marjorie Hamby Burdette joined family and friends in Heaven on November 27, 2024, after 97 years of a full life. Born in Rockwood, Tennessee, she lived there until the final months of her life in assisted living in Kingston. She was a member of First Baptist Church (FBC) for 74 years where she served in various roles including secretary (possibly the first), choir member, Sunday school teacher, and supported the youth program and youth choir.

Marjorie retired after 37 years of work at K-25 in Oak Ridge. Following her retirement, she served her community as an advocate for elder issues, Roane County AARP President, supporter of Mid-East Community Action Agency (MECCA) home delivered meals, and the Rockwood High School Marching Band (when her grandsons played). Her family was her pride and joy, and she was blessed with many wonderful friendships through her various activities.

Marjorie is survived by Mark & Cathy Burdette, and Susan Burdette; Grandsons Joshua & Cassandra Burdette, and Jordan & Allie Burdette; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Jamestown Assisted Living for their care and kindness.

Visitation will be at First Baptist Church in Rockwood on Thursday, December 5, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 7:00 p.m. with Brother Greg Kelly officiating. A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Roane Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Wreaths Across America, or MECCA home delivered meals.
