Luther Lonzo Bridges

Mr. Luther L. Bridges, age 86 of Harriman, passed away Tuesday July 9, 2013 at his home. He retired from Union Carbide and Martin Marietta after 46 years of service. Luther was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Spring City and was formerly the choir director at Union Chapel Baptist Church in Kingston. He was also a member of Southgate Lodge #569 F&AM for 53 years.
He was preceded in death by two sons: Gary L. and Danny W. Bridges. His parents: Walker & Annie Bridges. Father-in-law & Mother-in-law: Herbert "Shine" & Gladys Greene. And one sister: Treva Ellis.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years: Louise Greene Bridges. One grandson: Shane Bridge of Harriman. Two brothers & sister-in-law: Dempsey & Francis Bridges and Obie & Barbara Bridges all of Kingston. Two sisters: Ruth Gilmore of Ohio and Reba Hacker of Wartburg. Sister-in-law & brother-in-law: Shelby & Benny Skiles of Harriman. And a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday July 11, 2013 at Davis Funeral Home, Harriman from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM with Bro. Tim Giddens officiating. The graveside service will be Friday July 12, 2013 at 1:00 PM in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Rockwood.
