Lillian Ruth Paxton

Lillian Ruth (Miller) Paxton, age 78, of Lancing, TN, passed away in her home on Monday, August 17, 2015, surrounded by loved ones. Known by her family as Grandma or Grams, Mrs. Paxton was preceded in death by: her daughter, Kathy Paxton; her brothers, Billy and Bobby Miller; and her parents, Hugh and Eula Miller. She is survived by: her husband of 59 years, Robert Paxton; her children, Janet Comer of Oak Ridge, Jeff and Deane Paxton of Strawberry Plains, Carol and Ronnie Diden of Wartburg, Annie and Ray Gardner of Oak Ridge, Greg and Jane Paxton of Benton, Anitra and Micah Hancock of Lancing, and Jeremy and Jessica Paxton of Lancing; her 18 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, and 10 step-great-grandchildren; her siblings, James (Leona) Miller of Oakdale, Joyce Suggs of Dalton, GA, Charlie Miller of Oakdale, Audrey (Vick) Jeffers of Oakdale, Donald (Pam) Miller of Oakdale, Barbara (Dean) Kamer of Oakdale, and Mike (Lori) Miller of Friendsville. Mrs. Paxton was an active member of Armes Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, and devoted much of her life to caring for her loved ones. Mrs. Paxton enjoyed quilting-making a quilt for each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren-playing (and usually winning at) dominoes, going on vacation with her three sisters, and making sure everyone who visited her home had a bite to eat. With always a hand to hold or a shoulder to cry on, Mrs. Paxton will always be missed, but will forever be loved. The family would like to thank Cheryl, Joyce, and the others at Covenant Hospice for their excellent care of Mrs. Paxton.
The family will receive friends Wednesday August 19, 2015 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Davis Funeral Home, Wartburg. Funeral service will follow at 8:00 PM with Rev. Ralph Nance and Bro. Adam Garrett officiating. Graveside services will be Thursday morning at 11:00 AM in Kubley Cemetery in Lancing. Her grandsons will serve as Pallbearers.
