Johnny Leroy "Sonny" Bates

Mr. Johnny L. "Sonny" Bates, age 66 of the Frankfort community, formerly of Coalfield passed away Wednesday July 29, 2015 at Roane Medical Center in Harriman. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents: Junior and Bonnie Bates. One grandson: Cody Cox. And a step-son: Freddie Ray Graham. He is survived by his wife: Marie Bates. One daughter and son-in-law: Tracy and Thomas Clevenger. One son and daughter-in-law: Toby John and Rhonda Bates. Two grandsons: Thomas and Dakota Clevenger. Two granddaughters: Casey Brooke Hill and her husband Josh Shepherd and Ashton Brooke Bates. Two great grandsons: Jordan Shepherd and Landon King. Two brothers: Stanley and Anthony Bates. Two sisters: Cathy Holmes and Aleshia Hawley. A special nephew: Danny Rouse as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, family, friends and loved ones. A Celebration of Life and Memorial Dinner will be held Saturday August 8, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Brannon-Kreis American Legion Post in Wartburg.
