John M. Francis, age 83, of Harriman went home to be with the Lord at his daughter's home in Madison, AL surrounded by his loving family. He was a 50-year member of South Gate Lodge #569 in Harriman, TN. John was an Army Veteran who served as a medic in the Panama Canal Zone. He worked as a maintenance mechanic and union steward at K-25 in Oak Ridge, TN. He loved spending time with his wife and family, going fishing with his sons and teasing his daughter. He was a three-time cancer survivor and felt blessed to see all three of his grandchildren graduate from college, marry and have children. His last months were spent visiting and getting to know his great grandchildren. He was lovingly known as the Grand Poo-Paw to Owen, Mitchell, Normandy and Nathaniel. All who knew him described John as a sweet, gentle man who was very grateful to the Lord for the time he was given with his beloved wife, Louise, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and stepfather: Floyd Mitchell Francis and Emma Shillings Francis Stockton and stepfather Clarence B. Stockton Five Siblings: Pearly May Francis, James Francis, Ronnie Stockton, Beverly Francis Barlett and Betty Francis Jones Three children: Paul Michael Francis, Johnny Wayne Francis and Burl Allen Francis. Son in-law: Fred A. Berry Jr Niece: Martha Kay Jones Easter Nephew: Daniel B. Powers He is survived by his wife of 63 years: Margaret Louise Jones Francis One daughter: Patricia Francis Berry One daughter in law: Nancy S. Francis Grandchildren: Jonathan (Tammy) Berry, Jana (Brian) Givens and Katy (Patrick) Stringfellow Great Grandchildren: Owen, Normandy, Mitchell and Nathaniel Two sisters: Carolyn S. Francis and Joyce S. Hurley And a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday March 13, 2020 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Davis Funeral Home in Harriman. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM with Bro. Wayne Nelson officiating. The interment will be immediately following the funeral service in the Roane Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Jimmy E.
