Mr. Jimmy Burum, age 66 of Harriman, passed away Tuesday September 11, 2012 at Roane Medical Center. He was born November 2, 1945 to the late Mary Alice Burum and James Thurston Daniels. Jimmy was employed with Norfolk Southern for 23 years until his retirement in 1992. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and gardening; he was also an excellent carpenter. He was very supportive of his family and friends throughout his life. Jimmy will be most remembered for his work ethic, honesty, truthfulness and his love for others.
Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife: Shirley Burum. Two brothers: William and Donald Burum. One sister: Rebecca Burum. Aunts: Deane Burum, Margaret Griffin and Annette Cozart. Uncles: William "Babe", Joe, Frank, Leon and James Vest and Thomas Burum.
He is survived by a devoted companion: Sharon Davis. Two sons: James and his wife Rholonda Burum of Knoxville and Bryson and his wife Cassey Burum of Harriman. Daughters: Sherry and her husband Milton Martin of Kingston, Jamesa Burum of Rockwood, Shannon Davis, Shavonda Newton and Shawna Griffin. His grandchildren: James, Isaiah, Jace, Naomi, Whitley, Molly, Wisdom, Jerelijah, Shanta, Ladaisha, Terryanuna and Authur as well as other family, friends and loved ones.
The family will receive friends Thursday September 13, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Davis Funeral Home, Harriman and also Friday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Little Leaf Baptist Church, Oliver Spring. Funeral services will follow at the church at 1:00 PM with Pastor William Caldwell officiating. Interment will follow in Roane Memorial Gardens, Rockwood.
