Grace Devaney

Mrs. Grace Stancil Devaney, age 87, formerly of Harriman, passed away Wednesday April 27, 2011 at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, NC. She was the daughter of Major Washington and Vista Paralee McCoy Stancil. Grace was a proud graduate of Sunbright High School, Class of 1944. She retired from Burlington Mills after 30 years of faithful service and was a member of South Harriman Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by three husbands: Hobert Price, Kenneth Howard and Charlie Willard Devaney. One granddaughter: Tristan Rose Mathis. Two brothers: Wade and Carl Stancil. And one sister: Myrtle James. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law: Gwyn and Terry Mathis And one grandson: Terry Allison Cobb Mathis all of Stanfield, NC. One brother: Charles Stancil of Morgan County and a host of nieces, nephews and other family, friends and loved ones. The family will receive friends Saturday April 30, 2011 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Davis Funeral Home, Wartburg. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM with Rev. Jeff Parrott officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethel Cemetery in Lancing.
