Evelyn B. 'Lynn' (Blalock) Cunningham

March 28, 1936 — August 19, 2021

Mrs. Evelyn “Lynn” B. Cunningham, age 85, of Knoxville, TN formerly of Harriman/Kingston, passed away peacefully Thursday August 19, 2021. She was born March 28, 1936 in Quitman, Georgia. She was a loving Mother and “Mimi” and was also affectionately known to many as “Aunt Lynn”. She was always a teacher and counselor to all she knew and loved!!!
She worked many years in Oak Ridge, Tennessee at ORNL as a Biological Research Assistant in what was known as the “Mouse House”. She was also a Lab Coordinator and Instructor at Roane State Community College.
She was a former member of the First Christian Church in Harriman and most recently, an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Harriman. She was previously active in local and state politics, having served as a Republican State Committee woman.

Her educational background includes graduating from Dixie High School, class of 1954. She obtained her B.A. in 1958 from Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama.

Her accomplishments included: being presented the Spirit of Huntingdon Award, being named Who’s Who Among Students and also being named a member of the Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society.

She received a Master of Arts Degree from Tennessee Technological University in 1993 with an emphasis in Educational Psychology and Counselor Education.


She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years: Dr. E.C. “Bert” Cunningham
Her parents: Grady and Evelyn Blalock
Two sisters: Alice McDonald and Alma Dee Kemp

She is survived by one daughter: Ellyn Kullmar (Doug)
Two sons: Walter Cunningham (Sally) and Charles Cunningham (Kellie)
Grandchildren: Anna Kullmar, Janie Varunshri (Kapil), Katie Jo Serrano (Sergio), Paul Kullmar, Emily Kyle (Kurtis), Liza Cunningham, Laura Cunningham, Olivia Cunningham, Laine Eidam and Alexi Eidam
Nieces: Lynnette Martin and Diane Campbell

Special gratitude to: Smoky Mountain Hospice Service, especially Terri Campbell for her compassion and care and to Chaplain AD Baxter. Also, to all her other amazing caretakers, especially JeAnne Ferguson.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. The Davis Funeral Home website and facebook will be updated with that information.
