Mr. Eldon A. "John" Futrell, age 76 of Harriman, passed away Sunday February 19, 2012 at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. He was born January 12, 1936 to the late Lonnie and Ira Jackson Futrell in Morgan County where he lived until his graduation from Coalfield High School. John served in the United States Army as a mechanic from January 1955 till January 1957 and then in the Army Reserve until April 30, 1963. He always had a love of cars, so in 1964 he opened Futrell's Used Cars in Harriman and fulfilled his life-long desire by serving the community for over 47 years. John was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Oliver Springs. Along with his parents he also preceded in death by his son: Terry Lee Futrell. One brother: Franklin Futrell. A brother-in-law: Roger Daniels. And a sister-in-law: Christine Daniels Kilgore. He is survived by his wife of many years: Ruth Daniels Futrell. One grandson: Jacob Futrell and his mother Racia Lawson both of Knoxville. Sisters-in-law: Margie Futrell of Harriman, Judy Daniels of Rockwood. Brothers-in-law: Herman Daniels and wife Sue of Oliver Springs and Lester Kilgore Jr. of Oliver Springs. Many devoted nieces, nephews and cousins. Special friends Caroline Diggs and the late Carl Diggs of Harriman. The family will receive friends Tuesday February 21, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 7:00 PM with Pastor Garvin Walls officiating. The family will meet Wednesday February 22, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Mt Pisgah Cemetery for graveside services. Davis Funeral Home, Harriman in charge of arrangements.
