Clyde Arnold Vowell

Mr. Clyde A. Vowell, Jr., age 63 of Ten Mile, passed away Monday January 7, 2013 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. He was a member of Fowlerville Lodge 164 F&AM in Fowlerville, MI. Clyde was also a member of the South Roane County Volunteer Fire Department where he started their First Responder Program. He also served as Assistant Fire Chief and was named Firefighter of the Year in 2007. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Clyde and Ermal Stafford Vowell. And two brothers: Allen and Pug Vowell.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years: Sophie Kumor Vowell. Four sons and daughters-in-law: Christopher and Janice Vowell, David and Vicki Vowell, Matthew and Kristen Vowell all of Michigan and Paul and Casey Suarez of Lenoir City. Two daughters and sons-in-law: Melissa and Jason Vandergriff of Knoxville and Rose and Joel Meza of Ten Mile. Fifteen grandchildren: Mariah, Alexis, Thomas and Sarah Vowell, Tristen Brooks, Shelby, Kailee, Zachery and Wyatt Vowell, Cayden Chaney, Cora Vowell, Dylan, Dominic and Jasmine Meza and Brianna Rogers. Two brothers: Ron Richards of Lenoir City and Jim Vowell of Michigan. Three sisters: Annette Richards of Lenoir City, Wilma Nowak of Connecticut and Arlene Hale. And one aunt: Juanita Raymer, known affectionately as "Aunt Jack". His adopted kids: Robin, Ginger, Heather and the girls as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other family, friends and loved ones. The family would like to extend a special word of thanks to Camellia Home Health, ETHRA and Harriman Care and Rehab's therapy family.
The family will receive friends Thursday January 10, 2013 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Davis Funeral Home, Harriman. Funeral mass will follow at 8:00 PM.
