Elder Clinton Pickard, age 89, of Harriman, passed away Monday May 23, 2011 at Roane Medical Center in Harriman. He spent his life as a minister of several churches in Tennessee and Georgia. He is a veteran of World War II, where he spent many days and weeks overseas in the hottest of battles. God took care of him and brought him home safe. He has been a friend to all. He has helped so many people to find their way to Jesus. He has been a father figure to so many young ministers that have come up under him. He will be so sadly missed by his family and all who knew him. He was preceded in death by wife: Ida Ruth Edwards Pickard. Parents: Nicholas & Laura Pickard. Four brothers: George, Irving, Stanley, and Dewey Pickard. Two sisters: Lena Pickard and Tammy Mae McCarroll. He is survived by two daughters: Kathy Ellison and Mary Karen Pickard. Two sister-in-laws: Edith Shillings and Edna Mae Pickard. Two grandchildren: Misty Shubert and Andrea Murphy. Two great-grandchildren: Austin Shubert and Breonna Murphy. And a host of nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 25, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Davis Funeral Home in Harriman, Tennessee. The funeral service will be held Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Elverton Primitive Baptist Church with Elders Ricky Wiggins and Roger Buck officiating. The body will lie in state at the church one hour before the services. The graveside service will follow in the Elverton Cemetery with the Roane County Honor Guard.
