Mr. Arthur Leroy Edwards, age 79 of Harriman, went home to be with the Lord Sunday February 3, 2013 at the Ben Atchley State Veterans Home after a long illness. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was retired from the Tennessee National Guard. Arthur was also a member of the Tennessee Defense Force. He was a veteran in the truest sense, he stood for his country and loved the military. Arthur also loved to hunt and fish. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Rev. Frank and Flora Edwards. Three sisters: Ethel Mae Stamey, Verdia Pass and Nellie Ruth Edwards. Two nephews: Robert Stamey, Jr. and Junior Stegall. His niece: Michelle Delozier and three other nieces.
He is survived by his loving, devoted daughter: Deborah Turnbill. Two sons: Paul and Danny Edwards. His wife: Trudy Edwards. Five grandchildren: Toshia Abner and her husband Kevin, Jeff Turnbill, Miranda Guy, John and Destiny Edwards. Eight great grandchildren. Devoted and loyal sister: Mildred Gann, Lola Bowlen, Clara Pickard, Teresa Delozier, Patricia Blair and Elizabeth Collins. Two brothers: W.C. and Chester Edwards. And a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday February 7, 2013 at Davis Funeral Home, Harriman from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. Funeral services will be Friday at 2:00 PM at Emory Heights Baptist Church with Pastors Jimmy Lindsey and Brad McCoy officiating. Interment will follow in Emory Heights Cemetery.
